On December 20, 2016, a 12yearold girl in Las Vegas named Arielle De La Rosa was banned from Roblox for what she believed was a "harassment campaign". She had created a character named Emily Roe that she used to bully another player online. The bullying campaign went on for over a year until it came to her parents' attention and they contacted Roblox about it. The harassment campaign violated the Child Online Privacy Protection Act COPPA. Her parents encouraged her to create a character named "Emily Roe" and they hoped that this would help her get unbanned from Roblox.

On October 8, 2017, they released a video showing large amounts of bugs and glitches in the game Frostbite. These include several bugs that allow for players to place guns and kill other players in mere seconds. ROBLOX said on their blog that this was due to an "incorrectly prepared prize package" but later stated that it was an error during a new update of their "Prototype Editor", which was supposed to have fixed the issues, but evidently did not.

According to a report by "The Guardian", Roblox has been criticized for being a "digital playground" that involves more than 50 of their users under the age of 18. The report states that there are over 200 million players on Roblox who have access to weapons and themes that include sexual references and violence. They also said that Roblox emphasizes the idea of user privacy which can be seen in their games by having players invite other users via email or text messages.

In a response, Roblox stated that the employee who did this was dismissed after a thorough investigation and that they are committed to making improvements to their workplace environment. Chris Misner also stated that she suffered retaliation from other Roblox employees for contacting the media and posting about her experiences with the company.
